The Hispanic Cultural Competency Collection 

THE GOAL OF THE PROJECT: 

The goal of The Hispanic Cultural Competency Collection is to create an open-source website for teachers with short-video responses by native Spanish-speakers responding to prompts that align closely to the 2017 NCSSFL-ACTFL Intercultural Can-do Statements as they appear in the Expectations for Learning section of the Ohio Department of Education’s World Languages Model Curriculum (2013). This new website will provide each cultural competency topic with pre-reflection questions, videos, a reading in Spanish, and a post-reflection comparison extension assignment. The hope is to collect and create materials that are comprehensible for novice and intermediate learners so that teachers can expose students to many different perspectives, practices, and products of Spanish-speaking communities using personal reflection and a student’s interpretive skills.

La Primera Fase: Las entrevistas (para compartir con otros)

Acabo de embarcarme en un proyecto cultural que creo que ayudará a muchos profesores con la enseñanza de la cultura hispana. Es mi meta grabar y crear una colección de videos hechos por hispanohablantes y textos sobre 40 temas y facetas de la cultura hispana. Esta colección será de muchas perspectivas y con suerte de muchas partes de cada país hispano (incluyendo Los Estados Unidos). Por eso necesito la ayuda de cada persona que me pueda colaborar con este proyecto que al final estará disponible gratuitamente para todos los profesores. Cada entrevista no durará más larga de un minuto. Usaré Flipgrid por lo cual necesitará una cuenta de Google/Gmail o Microsoft. Les pido que por favor compartan este enlace a todos los amigos y personas (de cualquier edad) conocidas que creen que ayudarán al proyecto.

Como ya he dicho, quiero una buena representación con muchas voces y edades diversas en los videos y si una persona sólo quiere grabar una entrevista es tan importante como si quisiera grabar 40.
